about

Alora Fane: Creation (AFC) was more of a game-creation tool of sorts than a game in itself. Though I never finished it enough to release it (shock horror), the soundtrack's surprisingly extensive.

Due to the user-creation aspect of the game, all the pieces are supposed to be sufficiently generic that they could be used by many creators in many scenarios, though I also feel they have my unique voice, and I'm very proud of them!

It's odd that there are pieces for five of the game's six mental elements, but there's no Destruction one!

I remember that a few of these came to me almost fully formed while out walking in nature, and I had to frantically go over and over them in my mind as I rushed home to put them into my music composition program (Sibelius) before I lost them. I think Courage, Bubbly, and Normal Battle were born like this. And Omnicidal was essentially fully improvised on the piano? Then cleaned up and converted to multiple instruments. Maybe? Fuzzy memories.

I particularly like the track called The Nexus, tacked on at the end, which I composed during this period but didn't include in this game. I've been wanting to do something with it for years. Maybe I still will.

about

Tobias Cornwall UK

I'm a self-taught composer who's been at this since I was 15 (DOB Feb 1988). I mostly make indie games and the soundtracks for them, though I've also composed a bunch of non-game music for the joy of it.

My music uses MIDI soundfonts, and I compose in Sibelius. I'd describe it as 'idiosyncratic'! I seem to naturally use non-Ionian modes, with a particular preference for Mixolydian.
