Music I composed for a Flash game called Beast Signer that I worked on - and failed to finish - in 2007 and 2008. Looking back at it while compiling this album, I feel a bit embarrassed about how shameless a clone of Pokemon the game was, but some people seem to have fond memories of it for some reason!

This music was composed around the same time as some of the early MARDEK music, so it's not too dissimilar to that, probably. Maybe a bit more sci-fi-y, as the game involved venturing into a virtual world to catch monsters made of digital code. I suppose it was a Digimon clone too!

Like with Raider - which I composed for around the same time - there's a Main Theme while recurs a lot between pieces, though it's more sparing here than in Raider. Other than that, I don't think there are any other reused motifs.

I'm a self-taught composer who's been at this since I was 15 (DOB Feb 1988). I mostly make indie games and the soundtracks for them, though I've also composed a bunch of non-game music for the joy of it.

My music uses MIDI soundfonts, and I compose in Sibelius. I'd describe it as 'idiosyncratic'! I seem to naturally use non-Ionian modes, with a particular preference for Mixolydian. ... more
