about

These long 'Ramble' pieces are like journeys, or sketchbooks; each wanders between many different musical places without any particular aim. They're essentially free, enthusiastic outpourings of pure creativity (which I'd be too concerned about doing things 'right' to be able to do these days).

Like with Cambrian Explosion, these were composed while I was still teaching myself how to compose, so structurally they're quite rough. They technically use the piano as the instrument, but they use too many notes to be physically playable; what you hear is the midi instrument they were originally composed for.

Originally they had no titles (just 'Ramble 17' etc); the titles I've given them here were what came to mind while I listened to them over a decade after composing them, though it would probably be more interesting to let your mind form its own imagery from them!

about

Tobias Cornwall UK

I'm a self-taught composer who's been at this since I was 15 (DOB Feb 1988). I mostly make indie games and the soundtracks for them, though I've also composed a bunch of non-game music for the joy of it.

My music uses MIDI soundfonts, and I compose in Sibelius. I'd describe it as 'idiosyncratic'! I seem to naturally use non-Ionian modes, with a particular preference for Mixolydian.
