about

The combined soundtracks of two separate Flash games, both called Raider.

I worked on the first between 2006 and 2008. It was one of my first Flash games: a Metroidvania (though I'd never encountered that term at the time) that used raster graphics. I got quite far with it, but never finished it.

I made the second in 2009. It was a revised linear platformer, using pixel graphics this time, which was intended to be released as five separate short chapters. The first couple got a meh response though and I didn't bother finishing off the rest.

In both soundtracks, variations on the main Raider Theme feature in almost all of the pieces at some point.

It's interesting comparing the technical quality of the 2006-8 pieces to the 2009 ones; I'd say the latter are reflections of my developing competence.

The album art's a painting of the main character, Arkus Zei, that I did in 2013 for some reason. What a fun fact.

about

Tobias Cornwall UK

I'm a self-taught composer who's been at this since I was 15 (DOB Feb 1988). I mostly make indie games and the soundtracks for them, though I've also composed a bunch of non-game music for the joy of it.

My music uses MIDI soundfonts, and I compose in Sibelius. I'd describe it as 'idiosyncratic'! I seem to naturally use non-Ionian modes, with a particular preference for Mixolydian.
